Description
In general, Compressors for petrochemical plants are driven by steam turbines which convert steam energy to rotational energy by means of rotor blades. Unlike the turbines used for power generation, which turn at a constant speed, these turbines can be operated at variable speeds.
These turbines which are manufactured in accordance with API 611 and API 612 standards have the following technical features:
Turbines in accordance with API 611
– Turbines as rotary equipment drives
– Impulse type design
– Single-stage turbine
– Backpressure max 15 bara
– 300kW up to 1,5 MW output power
– Inlet temperature 450°C and inlet pressure 45 bara
– Up to 6.000 rpm

Turbines in accordance with API 612
– Reaction type design
– Multi-stage turbine
– 2 MW up to 50 MW output power
– Inlet temperature 540°C and inlet pressure 140 bara
– Backpressure and condensation types
